February 1st Cooking Class in Oakland!

Our beloved chef was born in Gaza and moved to the Bay Area during the ceasefire in November 2023.

In Gaza, she dedicated her time to women’s empowerment, working to help women build independent lives through their artistry. She organized classes for the women in her community, cooked food to share, and compiled resources from clothing to educational materials to distribute as needed to women from her area. Long before arriving in the US, she embodied the spirit of mutual aid and community care.

Within weeks of arriving, she was already looking for ways to do community care for Palestinian and Muslim women here and finding ways to support women back home. Her community care also extends to her new friends in the Gaza-Bay Area Mutual Aid Collective— we are nurtured, nourished, and taught a great deal by her.

Here in the Bay Area, she continues to inspire by sharing her culinary heritage, catering traditional foods that tell stories of her homeland. She cooks with family members and amongst other larger projects, catered a beautiful Iftar dinner for an AROC event this past Ramadan. Our chef was honored at the 2024 International Women’s Day event hosted by Golden Thread Productions in San Francisco, where she prepared food for hundreds of guests. We are honored to host her cooking with our Gaza Solidarity Kitchen Palestinian food pop up events and cooking classes at the studio.

Please see below how you can participate in supporting the projects of an incredible woman and her family and connect to the traditions and flavors of Palestine.
